SM 480

The SM 480 Smart Ethernet Switch is designed to simplify network architectures, lower network costs, and unify fixed and mobile networks.  It is the first product in a new Smart Ethernet family designed to help service providers accelerate the convergence of fixed and mobile networks.  Future chassis configurations will exceed one terabit wire speed throughput without service compromise.

The SM 480 delivers a combination of transport and subscriber services, allowing service providers to leverage the network economics of Carrier Ethernet while migrating to a packet-based infrastructure.  With Ethernet-optimized hardware, the SM 480 leverages the proven capabilities of the SmartEdge Operating System (SEOS) to enable highly scalable and resilient Ethernet services.
