Redback Showcases Smart Broadband Networks at Supercomm Live Demonstrations and Industry Presentations to Highlight Solutions for Next-Generation Broadband Deployments

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 16, 2004 – Redback Networks Inc. (NASDAQ: RBAK), a leading provider of next-generation broadband networking systems, today announced that it will showcase its next-generation platforms for Smart Broadband Networks at the Supercomm conference in Chicago from June 22-24.

The SmartEdge® Service Gateway system and the NetOp™ Policy Manager form the building blocks for Smart Broadband Networks. The SmartEdge Service Gateway provides integrated broadband subscriber management, IP services, service provider edge routing and service delivery. The NetOp™ Policy Manager provides per-subscriber service management and service creation. At Supercomm, Redback will demonstrate these solutions and discuss various aspects of building Smart Broadband Networks in today’s challenging competitive carrier environment.

· Technical experts from Redback Networks will present short tutorials on topics such as, “Broadband Reliability: Achieving the Highest,” “Making Services Real,” “Smart Broadband WiFi Solutions,” “Smart Video Solutions,” and more. The 15-minute presentations will be held throughout the show in the Redback booth 26429
